Dom Amore co-authors book with former UConn basketball coach

Dom Amore, SCSU JRN ’85 and an Journalism Department adjunct faculty member, published a new book called “More than a Game: How the UConn Basketball Dynasty Was Built On a Culture of Caring,” co-written with famed UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun.

The book highlights stories from players, coaches, and colleagues who have worked with Jim Calhoun, a Hall of Fame coach. The memoir goes into details about Calhoun’s legacy, the highs of national championships, and showcases “a life devoted to building a culture of family and care.”

Some features include basketball players Ray Allen, Kemba Walker, Rip Hamilton and others who found success off the court.

This isn’t Amore’s first book. In 2018, Amore also released a book called “Franchise on the Rise: The First Twenty Years of the New York Yankees” that has a 4.6 rating on Amazon. This book also highlights sports, but specifically on the teams in the Yankees from 1903 to 1923. The focus is on the major players and events and was able to speak with some players.

Amore is a sports columnist for the Hartford Courant.
