Rob Parker, SCSU JRN ‘86, was honored with a press box dedication at the Jess Dow Field during homecoming weekend.
Parker, who majored in Journalism and worked for the Southern News as a student, has contributed to sports journalism throughout his career.
He has worked for many media outlets including The Daily News in New York, ESPN, Fox Sports Radio, and MLB Network. Parker also launched MLBbro.com. Now, Parker continues to stay connected with the school and has a scholarship for Journalism students in his name.
“This is a testament of what can happen when you follow your dreams,” Parker told the university in an interview. “It tells all students at Southern and all the kids that live in New Haven that you can be a young Black man from the inner city, come from a divorced home without wealth, and still achieve.”
